Why is my processor running slower than marked?

I have a pentium duel core processor at
3.00GHz according to the computer, but when I go to the bios, it says I'm running at 1.8GHz along with every other cpu calculator I've tested. Could I change it to 3.00GHz on the bios or would that be considered overclocking? I'm not going to even touch overclocking.

Hi and welcome to Tom's forum.

Download SuperPI, open CPU-Z and run SuperPI 2M. Check the frequency in CPU-Z and let me know the results.
