Hey everyone. I'm looking to build my first computer. :)

So basically my Dell Dimension 3100 isn't cutting it anymore, especially since I will have to use virtual machines and I need a more powerful computer.

Approximate Purchase Date: Sometime in the next month or two

Budget Range: 650 - 850

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Internet, Music, Virtual Machines, Games

Parts Not Required: OS and Monitor

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.ca (since I live about 40 mins from the Canadian warehouse... which means fast shipping)

Country of Origin: Canada

Parts Preferences: by brand or type: Since I'm pretty new to the whole "Building you're own computer" thing, this doesn't really apply. Whatever is reliable!

Overclocking: Yes / No / Maybe: No

SLI or Crossfire: Yes / No / Maybe: No

Monitor Resolution: (e.g.: 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1440x900, 1600x1200, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200): 1440 x 900

Additional Comments: (e.g.: Need to have a window and lots of bling, I would like a quiet PC): Can't think of any atm!

Thanks guys, I know you can help :)

Welcome to the forum. I'd try to squeeze in a i5-2400, a P67 mobo, maybe an ASRock Extreme4, 4GB RAM, a 6850 or so, and an Antec Neo Eco 520W.

Thanks jbakerlent, all these parts seem promising!

Would I need any additional cooling on it? And what case would you recommend?

Since you're not overclocking the stock HSF should be fine. For the case maybe an Antec 300 Illusion or CoolerMaster HAF 912.
