G'day all,

I was just wondering if any one had any experience with non olympus Li-10b
batteries? I am looking to buy some extra batteries for my camera.

Would they do damage to they camera?

and can anyone explain the mAh number? I know it stands for milli amp
hours, but does the higher the number mean the more shots you get? or should
it be the same as the olympus battery supplied with the camera? (1090 mAh)

Thanks for any help

Cheers

yes.

Almost certainly not, but there are no perfect guarantees..

yes. (O:

yes, it is a measure of the battery's working capacity, and generally,
the more mAh, the better..

As long as it is not wildly different, and as long as the battery
really is a Li Ion battery, you should be ok. The ones I have bought
are ok, if a little overrated, but occasionally you hear about one or
two that refuse to be charged - somehow the Oly charger rejects or
doesn't recognise them.

Given the price of them, I think it is a worthwhile chance to take.
But pick a reputable supplier..

FWIW, I purchased supplemetary batteries for my Nikon from:
http://www.sterlingtek.com/ I have been happy with them. The much
lower price was worth the "gamble" and I have not been disappointed.

1090 mAh means that the battery can supply 1090 mA (a little more than 1A)
for an hour.Or a smaller current, for longer, of course.I have no idea what
your camera is like, but for my Kodak the manufacturer recommends either Li
or NiMH, but it is working perfectly up till now with ol'cheapo NiCd batts.

Can anyone recommend reputable suppliers? or is ebay a viable option?

I am located in Australia

I'm in Oz too, and have bought from ebay.com.au - can't remember the
name of the firm I bought from. Just look at the number of sales/lack
of complaints for the seller, and you should be ok.
