Worthwhile upgrade

Is going from my current GTX460 1 GB to a 6950 2GB worth it. I play mostly FPS and strategy games. My mobo only has 1 PCIE slot although I am going to upgrade in the next 9 months to one with 2 and will likely either SLI the 460 or crossfire the 6950. If I went with the 6950 I have another machine to use the 460 in so it would not go to waste as it would be replacing a 9600gt in my son's rig. Anyone want to buy a 9600gt - just kidding.

Sorry ment to put the monitor resolution originally. Here are system specs.
monitor resolution: 1920x1080
cpu: 955BE
mobo: M4A87TD/USB3
memory: 2x2GB Crucial 1333
OS: Win 7 pro 64
will be upgrading to SB 2500k w/ P67 mobo and 8gb of ram

Unless you can run maxed out now with the 460, the 6950 would be a good upgrade, the rest of your system will scale with it. On the card charts at PassMark, the 460 is ranked 22nd the 6950 is 5th.
