Video editing workstation

Hello, i would like some ideas on the basic hardware specifications of a video editing workstation.

how much do you want to spend on it?

6 or 8 core processor, lots of ram (16gb or more), 3 drive systems: 1 windows drive preferably an ssd, 1 scratch/work disk, 1 data array ( I suggest raid 10), 1 workstation class video card (quadro or fireGL), A backup system that can create a backup for keeping local and another for keeping offsite.

i dont have a limited budget, but since its for a business i am looking to maintain a balance between quality and expenditure..(NB: this is for a university project as apposed to a real life implimentation and its a network comprising of 7 pcs doing video editing.. thank you for any help you can give,,
