Looking for some advice here: should I go with the HD 5770 or the newly released GTX 550?
Purpose: Run Civ 5, SC2, Photoshop and Premier Elements 9.
System: Core-i7-920 (B) (2.66GHz /1366 MHz) 1 MB L2 + 8 MB shared L3 (130W), 6 GB (3 x 2 GB) DDR3 PC3-8500, PSU 460W, and 640 GB 7200 rpm SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec) hard drive.
Current graphics card: Radeon 4350.
The are two PCI Express x16 slots available (once the old 4350 is removed).
Budget: around $150.
Questions:
1) Which card would you recommend: 5770 or 550? Why?
2) If I later (like in a year) decided to upgrade the PSU and then add a second card, would that change your decision?
3) Are there any other recommendations that you have to tweak this system. Again, not looking for enthusiast levels of performance, just something that runs smooth.
4) Is there a particular manufacturer to choose or steer clear of (e.g., MSI, XFX, Asus, etc.)? Why?
