I have a vapor x 4890 on the way and its default clocks are 850 core and 950 memory. I would like to overclock both of those to 1000 mhz each. Do you think that is plausible without upping any voltages? And if it ends up artifacting on me if i went too high can it damage the card? I heard as long as you dont mess with any of the voltages your fine. True or no?

If you overclock the GPU core only, and do it in small increments, it's highly unlikely it'll be damaged. If you overvolt the core, then it becomes more likely to be damaged. The memory is a lot more sensitive. It's more likely to be damaged when overclocking, even if you do it small increments at a time.
