The Motherboard is an MSI P67A-C43 (B3) and the CPU Cooler is a Zalman CNPS9700, the issue is I did not want to use the supplied manual fan speed adjuster, so I just plugged it into the motherboard, which has 4 pins for the cpu fan and the zalman only has a 3 pin, but it still works. When I turn the thing on the cpu fan just spins at max speed, always at 2800rpm and the cpu temp is at around 40c, so does anyone have this board, and is there a setting in it's dumb GUI bios that makes the fan actually auto adjust?

Solution
You may need a 4-pin fan to take full advantage of the auto speed control as well as the PWM feature of better quality fans. After that get into the BIOS and make the desired settings.
