Hello, I have a asus m4a77td mobo with 4g ddr3 memory.

Thinking about getting a Phenom II X4 965 and just wondering if I would run into problems. Everything I've seen says no just want to be sure.

Also wondering what kind of performance difference there is between a x4 965 and and 955. Is the 965 just more stable when overclocked at higher ghz? I'm really just looking to upgrade from an athlon 640 and not really worried about getting much higher than 3.5 or so......I know the 965 comes stock at 3.4 and the 955 at 3.2 so would the 955 be a better choice if staying at lower clocks?

yes they would run fine, you shouldn't even need a bios update if you are already running an athlon x4

some say that the 965's are binned a bit higher so you can overclock them a bit more, who really knows now with the 970,975,980's all out.

if you are buying off the egg the 965 is currently cheaper so go with that, if you find a 955 cheaper go with that.

Let me know how it works out, i'm flipping around the idea of one last upgrade to mine before i hand it over to the wife to do spreadsheets, and get myself something nice.
I currently have the 635 o/c'ed to 3.6 so i'm not really sure of the benefit, but i do have a microcenter 10mins away and they have a 955 there for $109.......
