Hello,
I am operating from Windows 7 from my own wi-fi connected broadband service. No problems with connecting via that source but I can't see what other sources might be available. This is especially important when trying to connect away from home. I don't have what I'm told is the appropriate icon on the toolbar. I have activated all available icons to display. Any ideas please?

If there are neighbouring wireless networks they should show up in Windows networking (even if they are secured). If you aren't yet familiar with Win7 networking I'd start by looking at Control Panel.
