Beep codes aopen mx46-533v

Hi I'm looking everywhere on the internet my roommate is a computer tec and he's to lazy to look it up so I'm doing the dirty work. I have an Aopen mx46-533v for a motherboard and it does one beep that's it. The screan says something about the bios crashing and it needs to turn off the computer to protect it from damage or something. Do I need a new motherboard, how do I fix this, and what kind of motherboards (please 100$ or less if I can find it online) can I buy for it or do I need the exact same kind like I would a laptop?

Have you rest the bios? if the default settings have been changed to some thing that is not compatible, that can can sometimes cause bios crashes.
