Hello, I had a power adaptor cable fray and break. I bought Dynex universal replacement, and the power light comes on, but hard drive does activate, and I cannot get to my music. What should I do?

Look at the old power supply. it will have an output voltage, type, and amperage.
For example: 17v dc 3.3 amps. That means 17volts. The type is DC (as opposed to AC) and the amperage is 3.3 which is how well that 17volts flows. Your replacement supplu need to be at or slightly above whatever the old power supply is. The type must be exact and its almost always DC.

Next look at the picture on the old supply near the output ratings. If its there it will tel you if the center pin is positive or negative. this must be an exact match also.

on this pic you can see the symbol just to the right of where it says 1.7A
the big outside circle is negative and the center pin is positive.
