Hello everyone,

I am looking forward to build a 1200$ gaming rig mostly going to use for long hours for gaming and watching movies in hd and stuff

The build will cover everything from mouse, keyboard, OS, new monitor and headphones, i am basically thinking of investing 900$ in the cpu and rest for everything or whatever u guys suggest.

Any suggestions / tips would be greatly appreciated. :D

I definitely wouldn't buy a $900 CPU for a $1200 system. I think the best build for your needs would be something along the lines of:

Intel Core i5-2500k (Overclocking) or i5-2400 (Not overclocking)
2 x 4GB 1600Mhz RAM (Corsair/G.Skill/OCZ etc.)
Lower end P67 Motherboard (Overclocking) or Cheaper H61/H67 Motherboard (Not Overclocking)
GTX 560Ti or as good a GPU as you can afford.
HAF 922/Antec 902 or the cheaper Antec 300
~550W PSU (Antec/XFX/Corsair etc.)
Samsung Spinpoint F3 or WD Caviar Black HDD
Windows 7 64 Bit
~22-24'' LCD Monitor

The mouse, keyboard and headphones are pretty much personal preference. I have the Logitech G500 and K200 with Sennheiser HD201 Headphones and i love the mouse, the keyboard is ok and the headphones sound good and are relatively comfortable but one side stopped working after a year or so.

Ok, if i'm being more specific maybe try something like this. (Prices from Newegg)

Intel Core i5-2500k - $224.99 (The best gaming CPU out there)
Antec 300 - $59.95 (Not flashy but very functional)
GIGABYTE GA-P67A-D3-B3 - $109.99 (Cheap and good for overclocking)
Galaxy GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) $229.99 - (Nice powerful GPU)
OCZ Fatal1ty 550W - $69.99 (Modular for good airflow and ease of building)
CORSAIR Vengeance 4GB (2 x 2GB) - $47.99 (Great RAM at a great price)
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB - $64.99 (Plenty of space and a relatively fast drive)
ASUS Glossy Black 24" 2ms - $199.99 (Nice big monitor with good specs and HDMI)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit - $99.99 (64 Bit is best for over ~3.5GB of RAM)
Logitech K120 - $14.99 (Cheap keyboard to get a better mouse.)
Logitech MX518 - $37.99 (Cheap for a nice gaming mouse. Also, wired ftw.)
PLANTRONICS GameCom 377 Headset - $34.99 (This has good reviews.)

Total: $1195.84 (Before $70 of rebates)

When you get that rebate money, i'd suggest a cooler such as Cooler Master Hyper 212+ and a DVD or Bluray Drive.
