BTX Form Factot

Which component did the BTX motherboard form factor make unnecessary?. the PCI slot, the heat sink, the power supply connector or the PUI mounted fan.

It didn't make anything unnecessary it just moved the components around to be more efficient. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BTX_(form_factor)

Yeah it used to be more efficient but was abandonned nowadays... I don't know why though. It had great advantages over ATX.

Once Intel brought the C2D out it wasn't needed anymore. Intel designed it because the P4s were running to hot. Now that we are putting more cores in the chips the TDPs of chips are back up where they were. I wouldn't be surprised to see BTX or something else come along.
