Not sure if this is the right section to post this in so dont hate on me.

Anyway hers the problem Techniclly my 19" 16:10 HDTV monitor supports 1400x900 max(with HDMI cable its higher but it looks way worse, but thats a different story) but I managed to raise the desktop resolution to 1680x1050(looks way nicer) using Catalyst Contor Centre(software for ati) Now if I play Shogun 2 in full mode the max res is 1400x900 and the textures look bad( you can tell somethings not right), but when i switch it to window mode I can an option to choose 1680x1050 and using that res the window takes up the entire screen is its praticly full mode but its actually window mode, if u know what I mean. My question is why cant i choose 1680x1050 res when i have full mode selected

Game number 2 issue: Assassins Creed Brotherhood(managed to get one already) max res i can choose is 1400x900 and thers no window mode, but at max res the game doesnt look like its suppose to(hard to explain but it seems like im playing at a way lower resolution than i actually am).

If you guys dont get what im saying ill try to include some screenshots.

That limitation is due to your monitor's "natural" limit being 1400x900, not 1680x1050. You're forcing the monitor via software manipulation to push 1680x1050, and it's not even a true 1680x1050 you're actually seeing.

What you're doing is pushing 1680x1050 across a 1400x900 resolution screen. This can only be done in Windowed mode, and not in fullscreen mode.

The only way to fix this would be to buy a new monitor.

I understand what your saying but I dont get why I have to force my resolution to 1680x1050 for the game to look normal, why cant i play in full mode @ 1400x900 with the game looking normal. Note this isnt for all games. BFBC2 I can play full mode @ 1680x1050, same with Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2 I play @ 1400x900 full-mode but that looks normal. Only trouble I have is with Assasssins Creed Brotherhood and Shogun 2

When you set the resolution to 1680x1050 in windowed mode, the graphics system is actually converting it to 1400x900. the extra pixels are smoothed into the 1400x900 so it looks better. The only way to fix this is like Boris says, get a new monitor.
