Hey guys,

I am soon to build my second gaming rig. I need your opinions on what graphic card setup I should go with.

Cooler Master HAF 922 $99.99
Cooler Master 1000w PSU $199.99
Corsair 16GB DDR3 $199.99
Corsair H50 CPU cooler $74.99(ish)
AMD FX-8130p processor $319.99
Asus Crosshair V Formula motherboard 990FX (SLi and CrossX support) $239.99
Asus 24x CD/DVD Burnner $20.99

Graphics cards:
2x EVGA GTX 570 SLi $689.99
2X XFX HD 6970 CrossX $699.99
EVGA GTX 590 $749.99

The largest resolution I will be running is 1920x1080 or 1200 on either a 22" 23" or 24" monitor.

Let me know your opinions and experiences! Thanks

Curious about some of your choices.

16gb of ram isn't needed. 8gb (2x4) should be the maximum you need.

The Corsair H50 CPU cooler isn't actually that good at cooling.

You're much better off spending less money and getting a CMer Hyper 212 plus - Or a little more if you're OC'ing go with a Thermalright Silver Arrow or a Noctua NH-D14.

Can't comment on your mobo or CPU since I don't have experience with them.

i will recommend the 6970 crossfire,

i also recommend that hyper 212 as well, dual fans

using i7 950 @ 4 Ghz, ASUS Rampage III Forumla :) , Mushkin 6 GB 1600

its doing very well so far. very fast. only a couple of minor glitches in bad company 2 is all i've seen.

I hope it runs Duke Nukem good.

Well I want 16Gb of ram because I do alot of 3D modeling and scripting from games and some of the programs are hogs. 8GB works but it could be better.

I have also had great results with the H50 in the past using a push/pull configuration. CPU would not get above 48C under full load. Also it is better for overall case airflow because there is no big fan tower in the middle of my case.

As far as the processor goes http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bulldozer/AMD-FX-Series%2...
It is on various other sites as well.

As an alternative I'd recommend the Antec H20 620. Better cooling and it is quieter than the Corsair closed loops.

another gpu alternative:

two 6950s at about $500 result in great performance for the cost of a single GTX580

That is also something to consider.

Alright after further research I have figured out my final build. Let me know what you think.

Cooler Master HAF 922
Cooler Master 1000w PSU
Corsair Hydro H50 (maybe H70)
Corsair 16GB DDR3
Intel i7 2600K
EVGA P67 FTW B3 (should be x16/x16)
2 x EVGA GTX 570s in SLi

Thoughts?

Sorry for double posting

why the 2 570's? im just curious. also can you post a link to that psu you posted. no liquid cooling i do recommend 2 fans on the hyper 212 plus, quiet ones the stock fan is so loud the cooler master sickle flow fans should do. no need for x16/x16, x8/x8 wont bottleneck your gpu's. look at the asus p8p67 evo for 195$ on amazon.

I mainly chose the 570s because I have been very satisfied with my 470. I like Nvidia products.

The PSU is here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I am completely new to SLi/Crossfire. I have be a single GPU guy. I am probably going to keep this computer for a good while so I feel like SLi wouldn't be a bad idea.

So you are saying that (with this set up), SLi at x8/x8 should have the same performance as x16/x16? I just fell that if I am going to go SLi then I might as well get a board with dual x16 so I can get my full money worth out of my cards and system as a whole.

x8/x8 wont bottleneck the gpu's. the 6970 cf is a great option if you are going to spend that much on gpu's also they are better than 570's in sli the 6950's run on par with them though so look into them. i wouldnt get the 570's they arent the best bang for your buck
