Best AM3 Motherbord?

Hey everybody, I'm looking to replace my ASUS M4A78PRO 780G AM2/AM2+/AM3 motherboard since the thing died on me.

I'll be using the motherboard for gaming and some overclocking here and there, nothing heavy.

Specs: AMD Phenom II X4 955BE
Corsair H50 (AM3 bracket)
*Ram - Will be buying ram to suit the new motherboard, recommendations would be great.
Power supply: Xion 1000w
HD: Samsung SATA 160GB
GPU: GTX 560 Ti 1024mb
Case: Antec 900

For actual size, I'm looking for an ATX board, possible under $100, (or as close to that as possible)

Thanks,

zodiac

  1. I would actually go for an AM3+ board like this one for $90 which will have you poised for a Piledriver upgrade later if you choose

    with this ram

    total $140 including shipping
You actually have a bit of variety on AM3+ boards in that price range so don't take the one I picked as the best for your needs although it is ATX and I think it would work well
  2. I agree on AM3+, with a 900-series chipset such as the one C12Friedman suggested. I personally prefer Asus and ASRock for motherboards, but Gigabyte has an excellent reputation as well.
I would suggest G.Skill RAM, if only because most of it doesn't have the huge heat spreaders, which may interfere with cooler mounting; check that before selecting your RAM.

That's a nice looking board, I like the positive feedback that it has. There were two other boards that I had in mind, but feedback was a little shaky, so I wasn't sure if these were good boards or not, but the prices are great...

With some cheaper RAM, I do have a 32bit OS, so I think 4GB would be alright

Again, you're going to AM3, I would counter with this ASRock AM3+ one at the same price range

Your H50 will mount on AM3+ if that is your concern
with 4 GB of this ram

    for a total ~ $100

That's definitely a nice motherboard. It looks a bit long though, it says ATX so I guess there shouldn't be a concern. That RAM I'll go with or sure, it's a good price.
