School network using server2008. I need to allow 2 teachers read-write access to the student folder with sub-folders in it that correspond the the class graduating year. I gave them domain admins membership and that was to much control. They then had access to administrators folders. I would like them to be able to read and write to the student folders and the subs. I shared the folder and added them to that, but when i login as them they cannot acces the folder. I delegated them and they still cannot access the folder. I know this might sound easy to someone. I didn't set-up the directory or the group policy. I'm not sure what I'm missing. Any help appreciated.

Did you give them local security for read/write as well? You need to give them share permissions, and also file permissions.

I think I got it. ? though. In the students folder that I gave them full control on, they can open folders if they have files in them. The folders that have nothing in them they cannot open. Is this normal?

sounds a little weird - if you put a file in that folder, and don't change anything else, can they then open it?
