2nd GEN I-3 or 1st Gen I-5

can a 2nd gen i5 decode a high def mkv file of about 20 gb without a extra display card or play a blueray of avatar seamlessly without a single jerk and audio video dissociation or is a display card necessary
also if there is intel hd 3000 graphics superior of inferior to a amd 5740 graphic card

Uhm, AMD 5740 is Superior to Intel HD 3000 Graphics.

I would go with a Second gen i5, If you can. But i would choose the 1st gen i5, its a much more powerful chip.
