I just put together an ASRock z68 Extreme4 system, and when I go to boot, it says no hdd. It will let me go into efi bios, but I'm a newbie and not sure about how to set things up. I just put together another ASRock system with no problem (H61icafe), so I don't understand why I'm having so many problems with this one. The system has 2 SATA3 hdd, and one SATA2 hdd, as well as two SATA optical drives. I think that's where I'm making my mistake. Could someone please tell me which SATA ports to use for these drives, and how to set the boot device in bios?? Please help, I'm freaking out

With out the bios in front of my I cannot just mess away with setting to nail it out. I am a very visual person. I would look at the Mobo manual and look at the sata socket layout.

A similar ASRock z68 mobo has different sata sockets, and it appears to be a running standard that the white are SATA3 and blue sockets are SATA2. Try matching that if your manual isnt clear enough.

Also, if you go into the bios do you see and HDD listed there? I know this will sound dumb, but make sure your HDD have power to them.

thank you so much for responding! Well, I'm a little embarrassed to say this, but I kinda just freaked out. Turns out, I had too many drives plugged in for first boot. It's up and running GREAT!!!
