Hi,

i've just had to upgrade my computer after the old mother board blew.

my old system was:

AMD Athlon x2 6000+
Asus M2N-SLI
4GB DDR2 800 Mhz (2x 2GB)
Nvidia 8800GTS 640MB

i've replaced it with:

AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black edition
Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H
4GB DDR3 1600Mhz (2x 2GB) (For some reason showing as 3GB)
Nvidia 8800GTS 640MB

I've reinstalled Vista (32bit edition) and installed the motherboard drivers. i'm currently in the progress of running windows update which is so far 70% into downloading 400mb which has taken nearly an hour the old set up could download 400mb in around 10 minutes. even loading pages on the internet seems to take a while.

Heres some screens from easytune 6:

CPU

Memory

is it right that my memory should be showing as PC3-10700H(667 MHZ)?

any help would be appreciated

still doesn't answer the main question, my old system could read the full 4GB, So why does it not with not these? even so, its the same amount of memory but faster than my old set/ new generation of memory so why the slower system.

is there can i upgrade to 64 bit without having to buy a new opperating system?

still waiting for updates, nearly 2 hours after starting the download and its installed 25 out of 106 updates. I'll se what happens when it (eventually) finishes

Ok, so I've gone through windows update and it's now shutting down. It completed the "configuring updates" part half an hour ago and is just saying "shutting down..." the little circle is still spinning and the hdd light is flashing the same pattern like morse code . . - over and over again.

Would it be safe to just shut it down by holding the power button?

i never really imagined it would be as fast as this, all i can assume is that vista 32 is not/has not been prepared for newer processors.

i loved vista with my old processor but this windows 7 is amazing
