CPU fan not working

cpu fan starts on pc startup then quits hp pavilion a810n

it's most likely temperature controlled and wont turn on until the CPU heats up significantly. HP usually does this to keep the noise level down.

If you'd like, you can go into the BIOS of the machine and set the fan to always on. You should be able to find it with the CPU settings.
