Hi all , hope this is the right section to post . Upgrading my old PC which i use mainly for online gaming WOW AION, GW,GW2 when out . Current system Intel Core Duo E8500 3.16ghz , Asrock Wolfdale 1333GLAN mobo ,Geforce 9600GT 512mb graphics card. Not got lots to spend and looking for good reasonably priced components. So far have identified
AMD PHENOM II X4 965 3.4 Ghz - £78
XFX RADEON HD6850 BLACK EDITION 1GB - £86
But stuck on Motherboard for it. Ideally between £30-70 some saying Gigabyte is better but im new to PCs this one i bought a few years back . Guess i ll need to upgrade the power supply too, mine just say "Value 400PW" on the reciept ,or would 400w be ok for this? I play on a 23" LG monitor at 1920x1080 settings if thats any help. Really want to upgrade for about £200-250 . Any and all help greatfully recieved thanks all

I believe you can buy a better CPU for that price if you go Intel. If you decide to stick with AMD then I think you should also get an aftermarket cooler for overclocking.
That PSU should also be changed. Go for 500watts if it's from a general brand. If it's something like Antec, Corsair or Seasonic maybe 400watts will be enough

I'm not exactly sure of the prices but I think you can get a i3 2100k plus a P67 motherboard for that money. An overclocked i3 plus that GPU would make a very decent build

You cannot achieve a significant overclock with an i3, only the i5 and i7 "K" models.
