No it is not compatible with other sockets.

what exactly do you mean?

socket 939 will only fit chips designed for that socket, and you won't find anything remotely decent by today's standards that will fit that socket.

If you're looking to upgrade, then a cheap 1155 mobo and a core i3 would be MUCH better.

Thank you. I know AMD used to make compatible socket types but guess they realized how much money they were loosing that way.
