I recently installed an AMD 955BE on my Biostar A880G+. It remained stable on stock voltage up to 3.5Ghz (17.5x multiplier). When I increased to 3.6Ghz it wouldn't boot - no bios screen, no nothing, just a black screen. I had to reset my BIOS manually. I tried increasing the voltage to 1.55 but still get the black screen. Is 3.5Ghz my max overclock, or is there something else I can try? I have adequate cooling so heat isn't an issue - running at 3.5Ghz temp maxed out at 47c after an hour of OCCT. Thanks!
when you went to 3.6 did you bump down theHT link and memory clock multipliers?
Oh wait the 955 is a BE, all you are doing is changing the multiplier. Hmm, that is strange, you usually ccan hit around 4Ghz from my experience. Are you using the stock cooler? You really should get an aftermarker cooler like the Hyper 212+
Could you have a C2 stepping instead of a C3? That would do it I think.
Is C1e and coolnquiet diabled in the bios?
I'm having the exact same problem as the OP. I'm really new to overclocking, this is the first time I've attempted it and the first PC I have built. Any help is greatly appreciated from me too! In case it helps, my specs are:
AMD Phenom II 955 BE
1tb Spinpoint F3
