Difference between gpu

ok so the ati 6000 line has pci express 2.1
what is the difference since i cant find mobo that says pci express 2.1 and will it work with pci express 2.0 or a regular am3 mobo or do i need a special mobo

and is it worth getting the 5870 now

or would the 6970 would be better
and between 6970 and 6950 which one would be better

also one more thing on newegg it says 6870 has 900mhz core clock and 6950 has 800mhz shouldnt it be other way around
my resulation is 1920x1080

U can get the HD6950 2Gb and flash it up to HD6970 and it should perform much better than HD6870.
