I am building a new computer system for the first time. I have been having difficulty on which option to choose for a graphics card. I know this has been asked many a times. But, the options I am considering are a GTX 580, Radeon HD 6970, Crossfire 6870 or 6950.
Price: I look at Amazon and Newegg. My budget is $450-$525 (with shipping and tax already factored in)
Heat output: How much heat the card produces. Also, if the heat is going out in the back of the case or into the case.
Wattage: I looked at the article Tom's Hardware on energy cost
Performance: Is not a problem, I am not a picky person
Games: I look forward to playing is Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood on PC, Batman: Arkham City, as well as the upcoming Battlefield 3.
Thanks for any input!
My current system build w/out the graphics card:
Cooler Master Haf-X
Gigabyte Motherboard X58A-UD3R
Intel Core i7 950 @ 3.06GHz
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
Cooler Master 1200W Silent Pro Gold Series
3 x Crucial 2GB Triple Channel Memory Kit DDR3-1066
Going to run under Windows 7 64-bit
Asus 23" 1920x1080 (Model: VH238H)
I ordered a second 6870. They beat a 580 in 90% of the games and do very well in crossfire. Or get two 6950 1GB not 2gb. Both the 6870x2 and 6950x2 will be faster then the rest, you ca pick up 2 6870s for like 370$
