I'm looking for something that's going to readily take my Core i7 2600k to 5.0 Ghz. Intensive water cooling is out the question. I've neen looking at the Noctua NH-D14
, and some even say the Hyper 212 Plus
. Just wanting to know what I should do/get.
Ordering from NCIX.ca
As I am Canadian, living in Canada.
Don't get your hopes up too high... not every 2600K can get up to 5.0Ghz, if you chip gets up to 5Ghz. But you are in Canada and I am in a tropical country, so while a Hyper212 can't cool my 2600K @ 4.6Ghz 1.35v, I can do 5.0Ghz 1.48v, but I am using a Thermalright Silver Arrow, and the temps still go beyond 80C with prime95.
I think you basically have 2 choices Silver Arrow or the NH-D14, but the term best bang for the buck does not apply for those two.
Best bang for the buck is the Hyper 212, if you have ambient temps at around 15C, then it could hold the 2600k.
