Should I change my monitor if I will buy a 512mb card?

Hello,
I'm using a Samsung Syncmaster 793MG Monitor(http://www.yopi.co.th/image/prod_pics/20/e/20624.jpg)
my dad said that if we would upgrade our graphics card,we should also change our monitor.Is it true or not?
I really really need your help for I'm sucked with my Intel G33/31 Express Chipset Family.

it's a CRT monitor.But if I would change it my 256 to 512mb graphics card would it run smoothly?

Anyways,Could I also use an 18 inch LCD for a 512 graphics card?
