Hello everyone,

Im a bit of a computer novice and am looking to buy the XFX HD 6870 and had a question regarding the two 6pin connectors needed to power the video card. It looks like I have 2 6-pin cables but they seem to be connected to 1 harness, also one of the 6-pin says SLI ready instead of PCIe. Would I be able to use these two 6-pin connectors to power the card without any problems?

Here is a photo of the cable

yes you can use any of the 6 pin connectors you have. as long as your PSU is up to the job (500 watts plus from a good brand)

Thanks for the reply weezys_advoc I have a 700w PSU so I guess I'm good to go.

1 more question, how easy is it to add another 2x 6-pin connector onto my current PSU in case I ever want to crossfire?

Could you please tell us the brand/model PSU you have, that way we can see exactly what you are working with.

Also, you cant add connectors to a PSU (unless its modular) you just have to either work with what you have or get a different PSU.

I have a 700W Xion PSU, model # XON-700P12F

So I guess ill have to just invest in another PSU if I want to crossfire.

you can use a molex to 6 pin adapter which will let you go crossfire by using 2 sets of 4 pin molex into one single 6 pin connector. however i am not sure your psu is up to the task for crossfire, so if you do go down that road get a better brand psu first.
