I'm well overdue an upgrade for my computer, and tomorrow I'm going to bite the bullet and order some new parts.

At present my specs are:

2.8ghz AMD Athlon 64 x2 5600

3gb DDR2 667Mhz

ATi HD5830

500W Power supply (Arctic Power)

500Gb 7200RPM HDD

Gigabyte ga ma69vm s2 Motherboard

I've had this for a few years now, and I can't run the newest games particularly well.
This is what I am looking at

Intel i5 2500K 3.3Ghz

8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz

Arctic power 700w PSU

ASUS P8H61-M PRO

Casecom Case

DVD drive

My existing 500gb HDD (also have a 1tb external, so I use that for all other storage, Music etc)

My ATi HD5830 1gb (Still pretty decent, may upgrade to something better in the future)

This will be around £360, which seems reasonable, Its virtually a whole new computer, rather than an upgrade. But its the most cost effective way in my opinion :)

Does that seem like a good way forward? This is about the most I want to spend, being somewhat on a budget(Car insurance is a killer right now).
and if not, what should I get? I was looking at AMD, but until the Bulldozer comes out, Intel stand out the most with the i5 (or maybe even i7, if I want to stretch that far?)

Thanks :)

the mothermoard you are getting "h61" does not allow for overclocking of your 2500k, if you want to overclock you will need a "p67" or "z68" series motherboard. if you do not want to overclock just get the i5 2500 (without the k).

If you're still intent on the i5 build then just reuse your existing power supply too.
