Hi all,
I currently have an I7-920 and an X-58 motherboard. Been thru all the procedures and determined MB has gone bad.

I would like opinions about whether I should take this opportunity to upgrade to the Sandy Bridge or just replace my MB and keep the 920.

I'd like to keep my other components, replacing as little as possible:
Corsair HX 750W pwr supply
Corsair TR3X6G1600C8 memory (3 x 2G)
WD Caviar Black 500GB HD (WIN 7 & programs)
WD Raptor 150GB (Paging & Temp, misc.)
2 x Samsung 500GB RAID 1 (documents, pics, music)
GTX 275
GTS 250 ( was using for PhysX only)

Don't really need SATA6 or USB3 right now. I game at 1680 X 1050.

Opinions please?

I'd keep what you have right now. There's no way IMO that replacing an i7-920/x58 with any new platform will justify the costs... the 920 is already one heck of a processor, and it should be good for quite some time before it actually becomes outdated. I'd just keep it until it cant do what you want it to. Spend your money elsewhere, like a new GPU or SSD or such.
Just my $0.02. :D
