so what's the reasoning behind the Corsair v2's for all their TX models? and they continue to sell the v1's? what is that all about?

The V2s are based on a different platform and built by a totally different company.

The TX and TX-C are based on the Channel Well Tech(CWT) PSH and PSH II platforms respectively, the TXV2 series is based on the Seasonic SS-***AT platform so they are totally different layouts by totally different companies. The performance is similar but the PSH platform by CWT was being phased out and the SS-***AT platform is a bit cheaper for them.

which layout/version is preferable? they are similarly priced so....

has corsair been on a slight decline the last few years? seems like their products were super rock solid say 4 years ago, where now you see a percentage of complaints on their various products...

Most new complains are on the newer series such as the CX and GS series. The new TX series are by Seasonic which is an outstanding OEM that makes unparalleled PSU's with extremely good quality parts.

Get the V2 as it is slightly more efficient , tad better stability, and much more efficient layout.

P.S. I have a tx 750 (original 2009)
