Upgrading my RAM for Ivy

Hey guys, I just bought a 3750k and an ASRock Z77 Extreme6 (still waiting on it to arrive).

I'm currently running 4gb of G.Skill ram and I'd definitely like to upgrade to at LEAST 8gb (possibly more, I'd like your input on that). My budget really isn't an issue though I'd like to stay sub-$150. After I upgrade my RAM I plan on purchasing a Noctua NH-D14 to replace my Hyper 212 so low profile would be ideal.

These are a few of the ones I'm looking at.

CORSAIR Vengeance LP 16GB (2 x 8GB) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233280

Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB (2 x 8GB) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226314

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231468

G.SKILL Trident X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231587

One question though, the timings on RAM (i.e. 11-11-11-30), is it better for those numbers to be higher, or lower?

Thanks for any help.

Unless you are doing multi-platform video rendering or something along those lines, 8 GB ram should be plenty

    Nice choice of HSF.

Lower is better. Those are latancy numbers and represent a delay, higher the number, the longer the delay. This article addresses those numbers specifically

    Hope it helps, C
  2. Hmm, any suggestions on which one of the 8gb packages to get? Or is there a different set out there that is better?
  3. I'm looking for a better set for 8GB, as fast as I can find but, seems newEgg doesn't have the higher speed stuff from the QVL. BTW, I couldn't find any of those four on the QVL here
    http://www.asrock.com/mb/memory.asp?Model=Z77 Extreme6
and, unfortunately, it seems none of the ram makers have updated their QML's to include Z77 chipset boards
  4. I found this from the QVL

I like the G.Skill ripjaws and this was the first set of any I found with low heat sinks - overkill? Yes but I couldn't find 8 GB kits. I like overkill sometimes
  5. Imo CORSAIR Vengeance LP is good As budget build i'll go with G.SKILL
