I am looking to upgrade my memory, and I already have one 4GB 1333MHz stick of G.Skill Ripjaws Series, which BARELY fits past my CPU heatsink, has literally only a couple millimeters between the fan, and the heatsink on the RAM.
The memory I was hoping to upgrade to was 16GB's of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, of the G.Skill Ripjaws X Series. The heatsink looks a tad different then the one I have on my regular Ripjaws Series, and I'm wondering if it'll still fit?
As you can see, the heatsinks are slightly different, and I'm just wondering if anyone happens to know (maybe they've made the same upgrade) if the heatsinks are the same width, or if the Ripjaws X Series is even a tad wider.
I didn't notice any difference. I recommend you keep your present ram; you won't notice that much difference in performance going from 1333 to 1600, unless you've already sold your old ram. Try this promo code good for 15% off if you're registered with newegg: EMCNEJN45. It may still work.
