Which is the best bang for buck?

Seeing as how the 955 is almost double in cost, does it also have double the performance of either the 440 and the 720?

I'd like to OC as high as i can with a 212+, which would be best?

Phenom II X4 955 is the best option there and overclock very well with that cooler.

Yeah, even at double price the X4 955 is an excellent CPU and can give you very good performance and more if you want overclock it.

Well, budget would be that it should be below an i5-2500k/p67 mobo. Microcenter has the i5 for 180, and a 40 discount on any mobo with it. Cheapest good one i found was roughly 160. So that's 300 total.

If an x4 and am3+ mobo comes close to that cost, then i'd rather to with intel.

Go with the Intel option, AM3+`plus CPU can go over the same price.
