IDE TO SATA CONVERTER for sony DVD writer

Hello,
I have an Intel DH61WW motherboard. It has all SATA ports. My sony DVD writer is IDE. Now I don't want to waste it. I know that there are IDE to SATA converters/connectors. But I recently heard from a hardware storekeeper that those work only for HDDs are not for DVD drives. Is that true ??

you could use a pci ide card--gives you 4 ide channels

I agree, at the price of converters or PCI cards its better to just get a new DVD-writer.

+1, if your old DVD drive is still IDE, just buy a new SATA drive they are cheap enough.
