At this current generation, Intel has been performing better and isn't overly expensive. An i5 2500k will run you about $200 and is well worth the money compared to it's competitor at AMD.

Other thoughts: I'd love to see AMD giving Intel a run for it's money but sadly it's behind currently.

The best way to explain the answer to this is simply that the Intel processors are much more efficient per clock cycle than the AMD chips. Meaning Intel gets more done per MHz compared to AMD.

dude intel series is going to be the best for you granted it will cost a little more but it will be worth it
