Poor PC Performance

ok i originally posted looking for an upgrade so that i could run witcher 2 but people with seemingly lower spec pc's are running it great. Here's my build...

CPU: Phenom II X4 965 BE
MoBo: Asus M4A79XTD EVO
GPU: Saphire HD 5870
Memory: I'm currently running 2 gig RAM but another 2g is being repaired.. Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 cl7
PSU: Corsair 750W

Now i'm running the game at medium and it still struggles sometimes...Is 2gig RAM too little or is there another problem ?

I've read that a 5870 can run it on almost ultra with acceptable frame rates ....

Check your CPU and GPU temps. If they are too high, either could be throttling to cool off. If your heat sinks are very dusty, clean them off, and make sure you have good airflow in your case.

You might also look for background programs eating up CPU cycles.

Do you have any other graphics heavy games? See how they run at maximum settings. if they are running fine you could have a driver compatibility issue, check The Witcher 2 forums.
