Memory problems with new system please help!

Hi, this is my first time posting here...anyway I put together a new system: i5 2500, asrock z68 extreme3 gen 3 mobo, gskill ddr3 1600 16g (4x4g) and geforce gtx 460....the problem I am having is getting the computer to fire up with all 16g. It will run fine with 8g. Once I get it started with 8 I can shutdown and put all 16, and it is recognized and runs for a little while...the weird part not as well as it does with 8g. Eventually it locks up and I have to drop down to 8g. Is there some bios setting I need to change to be able to run with all 16 or should I send the memory back. Please any help will be appreciated.

Looks like you have a memory issue. Maybe other 2x4gb have issue. Remove first set of ram an install 2nd set of ram and see if the problem exist. It will be clear then.

I'm running windows 7 home premium 64bit, so I should be good on that front...either way I'll swap mem modules. If all memory checks out should I send back the mother board? And thanks for the help so far guys!

The memory checked out okay, looks like I need to send the motherboard back to newegg. I don't think I will go with asrock again: i5 2500, asrock z68 extreme3 gen 3 mobo, gskill ddr3 1600 16g (4x4g) and geforce gtx 460....

Any suggestions for motherboards I should go with? I do have a preference for asus...but I'm open to try something new aswell.
