DVD quit working after installing Win 7

Hello,
i have a hp zd7000 laptop i installed win 7 the DVD will not read disk cd or DVD it keeps saying drive empty

other people are having the same problem but I have not found any answers

In device manager, delete the driver, reboot, let Windows install driver.
