N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX Motherboard Sata 2 or Sata 3?

I just bought a second hard drive to install in my comp for backups. I have the N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX motherboard in my HP. I can not find anywhere weather it is Sata 2 or Sata 3. The new HD is Sata 3 so if my motherboard does not support Sata3 what will happen if I just plug it into one of the available Sata plugs? Any help will be appreciated.

  1. yes sata 6gb is backwards compatible with sata 3gb
a regular drive will not saturate the 6gb bandwitch, sata 6 is meant for ssds
  2. Ok, thanks.
  3. I have the same motherboard and a different question. Do this mobo support RAID? Also, is this Sata 3 or Sata 2 because I am getting Sata 2 speeds on my SSD but I may just have a Sata 2 cable.

*Sorry if its not customary to post add. questions here, this is my first post.
  4. Here is a link to a site that has the specs for that mobo. I searched high and low and finally found this site with the info.
