GTX 550ti on single 6pin PCIE

Would it be possible for a GTX 550ti to run on a single 6pin PCIE, I was wondering If I could buy some sort of splitter to make it work, but I'm not sure if this would work?

Also, If not, should I get the GTS 450 OC ( Or Non OC ) Or the HD 5770 (OC or Non-OC ).

Which is better and why?

What power supply do you have? The bigger issue is its ability to supply power, not the connectors available, the card will likely come with a 2 molex to 6 pin PCI-E connector so that shouldnt be an issue.

A 500W Xigmatek PSU.

Its the max upgrade for the PC I am getting, which is from a websites configurator.

That unit will be fine, i see it also has an 8 pin PCI-E connector so it has enough power available, you can use one of the adapters if you need to without an issue.
