Need more info. What CPU, and what other components do you have or plan to use?

I don't know what I'll be using yet: a video and sound card probably and a lot of ram for browsing. Personally I think 2 cores will be plenty but we'll see. I'm trying to get information to make the best choices. As long as we can get the best video and audio for streaming content, and minimize lag while browsing. That's about it.

that really isn't calling for a $100 motherboard. you can get a sandy bridge pentium and a inexpensive H61 board for $160 total. btw, web browsing doesn't need much RAM, 4gigs would do it.

ah don't you mean this for the i3?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
though it is a better bang for the buck to get the 2120, just $5 more:
i3-2120 $124.99
or save $20-25 and get
Pentium G860 $99.99
use the money towards a graphics card, though nothing wrong with HD 2000 on an i3 for video and web browsing.
