I'm planning to build my first gaming computer sometime within the next month or so and i've got pretty much all my parts sorted out, and now I just need a monitor.

Looking for something around 23' and 1080p. I've been looking at the dell ultrasharp 23', although it is on the high end of my budget. I don't mind spending the $40-50 more if it's worth it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

P.S. I couldn't find a sub-category for monitors so i'm sorry if this doesn't belong here.

The Dell U2311h is a pretty good monitor that for more than just gaming, such as watching movies since the e-IPS panel has better viewing angles than a TN panel monitor which most gamers prefer because of the low response times (2ms, 5ms).

The U2311h's 8ms response time generally means you are a little more likely to see ghosting compared to 5ms and 2ms in games. However, it shouldn't be bad at all.

I'm in the same boat and trying to decide if I want to go with two monitors or 1 slightly larger one. Are you interested in LED as well? Here are a few that I've been looking at that might interest you:

LG M2380D Black 23" 1080p 5ms Full HD LED Backlight TV Monitor w/DTV Tuner - $329

ASUS VH238H Black 23" Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor w/Speakers - $189

And I just came across a new IPS:

LG IPS226V Black 21.5" 8ms IPS Panel Full HD LED BackLight LCD Monitor - $219

I'm coming from a 27'' Hanns-G that seems to have a failing backlight and thinking LED monitors might last longer, but going from a 27 to 2 21.5s might be too big of a jump.

What do you guys think? is LED overrated? I like the M2380D the most I think but wish it was cheaper or had a non-DTV tuner version so I could have two matching monitors. The Dell U2311h is nice though... hmm don't know what to do.
