Mixing ram

can i mix ram with same spec and same brand but different model?

i was planning to upgrade my 4gb ram to 8gb ram and i was going to use my old ram instead buying a 8gb dual kit to save some money

my old ram:
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM

planning to buy this one
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL8D-4GBXM

there are both same speed, same latency and voltages

is there any compatibility issue on this both ram?

my spec is:
amd 955 be
asrock 990fx extreme 4
4gb g skill ripjaws ddr3 1333 cl8
gtx 460
cougar cm 700watts

Mixing RAM of the identical model is a crap shoot at best. Mixing two different but similar models is really pressing your luck. The prices on RAM have dropped dramatically. To me it's not worth gambling on mixing RAM. Newegg has (5) 8 GB. DIMM kits for under $60.

It will work providing the voltages are the same but just sell what you got and splurg the 10 bucks to make up the difference on your 8GB
safer bet

I have Kingston and Samsung running side-by-side with no issues whatsoever. Same brand is much less of a risk, especially if the specifications are the same.

a little oc to 3.7ghz

i only increase the multiplier to 18.5 without touching anything in the bios

Phothosop not use too many ram, 4GB very very enough and video editing render use cpu / accelerate GPU. I think keep your ram or overclock it or if you want upgrade buy ram kit 2x4GB . It will perfect for system overclock. Sometime mixing ram kit get unlucky
