You posted some messages there and got a few responses including
suggestions to take the advice that you said your IT people gave you.
Here's several more suggestions:
1.) Print out the IBM manual that I gave you the URL for and plunge
in. Try to figure out how to do it yourself. That's how most people
have learned to do things for millions of years - pick up a stick and
start wailing (a vision from the movie 2001).
The worst possible scenario is you screw it up. You can pick up 240x
TPs on eBay for $200-$400.
2.) Take it to someone who repairs laptops and pay them to fix it for
you. If everyone wants too much, sell yours on eBay for parts and get
one that works.
