Add'l memory for Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H

G'day:

I currently have 2 x 2GB (G.Skill Trident F3-16000CL9D-4GBTD; 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM 2000; CL 9; 9-9-9-24; 1.65v) and want to add some more memory -- adding 4 GB bringing the total to 8GB.

My MB = GIGABYTE GA-880GA-UD3H.

My CPU = AMD Athlon II X4 635 Propus.

What are the best options for adding the 4GB? I appreciate all the help I can receive. Those particular G.Skill sticks are no longer available, and I read about the "challenges" in mixing manufacturers, etc.

Well of course I am trying to save a buck like anyone else ... I looked at NewEgg, where I bought the original setup, and those sticks are no longer available. Are the differences in manufacturer and/or model really that important? To the point where I just discard the existing memory?

Assuming that I find the budget increase, do you (or anyone) have suggestions for 8GB for that MB?

    Thanks for replying!
  3. There is a G.Skill that seems very similar but 2 x 4GB, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314.

$46.99 is very reasonable, but I would of course prefer to add these to the existing 2 x 2GB.

    Any thoughts?
  4. I guess the question I was originally posting was could a similar (since the G. Skill sticks I originally bought are no longer available, at least at NewEgg) set of memory, such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277, be added to my 4-slot MB to step my 4GB to 8GB?
