Urgent, please help!

Basically, it is a problem which affects all of the games that I play. Here are some videos/screenshots showing some of the things wrong.

In this video, pay close attention to the shadows.

Also, these are screenshots of Call of Duty 4, the palm tree in the crosshairs changes as i move further away from it.

Also on Call of Duty 4, the gate in these screenshots completely disappears.

These are not the only problems, things such as this happen in every game i play.

I have no idea how to fix this problem, i have reinstalled my drivers, but nothing has helped

More about urgent help
  1. I am running an EVGA GTX 580 by the way
  2. I have found that there are a couple settings in the Nvidia Control Panel that are just not compatible with certain games. Two prime suspects are: Ambient Occlusion and Transparency Antialiasing. Check to see if either of these is enabled in Global Settings, if so turn them to Application Preference or Off.

Second, you actually will want to use these settings in games that support them, so be sure to set up individual program settings and enable them for those games that can handle them. This will be a good way to test these two games. Start at default settings, to see if that fixes the problem, then add settings until you see the problems re-occur.

Basically, my advice is to check through the Nvidia Control Panel for a setting or two that might be creating these problems. Otherwise, crank up the AA and AF with your GTX 580.
  3. I have gone through the Nvidia control panel but nothing has changed in-game. What happens is when I run down a road, lots of objects will appear as I move closer to them, such as Cars becoming more detailed, trees becoming more detailed much like the screenshots.

That might be a normal part of the game software. When I play Oblivion or Fallout 3, which have long sight distances, more details emerge as I move closer to objects. I thought for sure the missing gate was a result of something to do with Transparency Antialiasing.

What drivers are you using? Be sure to use the latest ones off the Nvidia.com website.
  5. They are the latest drivers. You say that this happens in other games, should it happen in Call of Duty 4?

I'm not sure about COD 4, but in many games the game engine doesn't render objects at a distance until you begin to approach them. This is to improve performance by not rendering objects that are difficult to see anyway. I wish I knew more about the specifics with these games you are playing. My feeling is that nothing is wrong with your card, but instead the problem is with either the Contol Panel settings, or the game is just coded to work that way. Games like COD are also big on consoles, so sometimes they have to write the software to work on XBox, PS3, PC, etc. and you get weird anomalies like that.
  7. or your should revert back to older driver and then see.
  8. I guess so, thanks for the help! I see where you're coming from, but it also happens on PC exclusive games, such as empire total war. The video with the shadows appearing and disappearing. I am in contact with computerplanet.co.uk as they are the people who custom built my PC and they are going to take a look for me. They will test it with a new card and we will go from there.

    Thanks for the help!
