Newly built computer experience freezes and lockups

Sorry if this is in the wrong section:

So I have just built a new gaming computer for myself but it is experiencing random freezing and lockups that cause me to have to reboot. The fans and lights all still work when it locks up but the mouse and keyboard are unresponsive and the screen appears to freeze in that the clock stops ticking etc. I do not believe it to be an overheating issue because both coretemp and hwmonitor list my cpu of idling around 33C and I haven't seen it reach out of 40 after exiting out of a game. The freezes are completely random, once happened while I was downloading a game, once happening while browsing internet/youtube, and once during the middle of playing a game. I have reached my wits end and from my research I'm thinking it may be an unstable psu but I was looking for further advice/opinions/help

My system is: AMD Phenom IIx4, 965 Radeon 6850HD, 320GB 6gbps 7200 HDD, ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3 mobo, 8gb gskill ripjaw x RAM, and RAIDMAX Hybrid 2RX 630W psu

There can be many issues that cause freezing. I'd run Memtest86+ from a floppy, CD or flash drive to see if there are any memory issues. You may also need to update the mobo BIOS. You should also check all cable connections and reseat the CPU/heatsink, RAM and Vid card. You can check the PSU requirements at the link below.
